Martina Berne

Dutch. Actress, informative, upbeat, experienced.

Martina Berne was born and raised in Haarlem in the Netherlands. After graduating from the Municipal Grammar School in Haarlem she took a few years out and became a theatre director's assistant in Amsterdam. Having decided that a formal training should be the next step, she applied for and was accepted by a number of English drama schools to train as an actress.

During her final year at Webber Douglas, she was offered her first voice-over job for Linguaphone. Many more followed, and Martina soon found herself at the top of the Dutch voice over market. She has worked for many household names, including BT, Volvo, Ford, Marks and Spencer, TK Maxx, Saab, Jaguar, Sony, European Space Agency and Hasbro, voicing anything from corporate videos to commercials, trainings films and computer games.

She has had a number of longstanding jobs, including thirteen years as announcer for Discovery Channel Holland, three and a half years as promo voice for Cinenova Nederland, many years of doing Public Announcements for many leading airlines including KLM, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa and British Midlands, a long running commercial on Dutch TV for Dell, which was updated monthly, also a guided tour of the Museum of Costume in Bath (and other museums), and several high profile Satellite Navigation Systems, amongst others one for Jaguar and one for Japanese market leaders Denso.

Apart from a highly successful career as a voice-over, Martina has also appeared as an actress in a number of TV programmes, from Dark Season ( the children's BBC series which has gained cult status as Russel T. Davies' TV writing debut ( also starring a very young Kate Winslet)), to Boon and Bad Girls. She has also worked extensively as an on screen presenter, amongst others co-hosting ( with Clive Pearse) movie programme Entertainment X-Press on NBC Europe, and presenting on Dutch TV Crime International on RTL4 and the weather on Het Weerkanaal.

On radio she worked for many years as a theatre critic on The Sunday Supplement with Michael van Straten on LBC, and presented her own jazz show on Classic FM Holland.

Martina lives in London, is married to French voice over artist Philippe Monnet and has two sons.
