Deborah was born in Hong Kong – her father an Indonesian Chinese, and her mother Taiwanese. She is fluent in Cantonese (mother tongue), Mandarin (fluent), Amoy (Fujian dialect, fluent) and English (fluent).
She has been a producer and presenter (in Chinese) for BBC World Service here, and a presenter and journalist (in Cantonese and Mandarin) for Broadcasting Company of China in Taiwan.
Her voice work has mainly comprised of corporate and commercial projects, in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, with a lot of international re-versioning and ADR/lip-synching in between! Her corporate clients include SKF, BP, BT, GlaxoSmithKline, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, McAfee, HSBC, Shell, TNT, Xerox, Panasonic, the 1 & Commonwealth Office, Department of Work & Pensions, Transport for London, the NHS, Amway and M&S. Her commercial clients include British Airways, Rolex, London 2012 Olympic Bid, Telco, Absolut Vodka and the BBC.
She’s also recorded language courses for Linguaphone and Harper Collins, as well as numerous museum and gallery audioguides for clients including The Victoria & Albert Museum, The British Museum and Liverpool Cathedral.
