Lutz was born, brought up and educated in Germany. He studied Drama, Literature and Philosophy at universities of Cologne, Berlin and Vienna.

He trained as a professional actor at Max Reinhardt Drama School (classes for Acting and Directing) in Vienna.

Professional engagements followed as an actor, director and literary manager with German theatre companies.

He has directed radio plays in Germany and Austria, and television work in Germany and Britain.

Lutz has also been a cultural correspondent, drama critic and translator, contributing to all state-owned radio stations in Germany (ARD), Austria and Switzerland.

His work in Britain includes innumerable engagements for German language teaching programmes, voice-overs and dubbings.
