Eve Matheson

Essentially English, precise, mellow, strong.

Eve’s work bridges all areas of the profession; theatre, television, film and radio as well as voice over, being widely used for commentaries, narration, audio books and commercials.

Her voice work has ranged from audio guides for the Diana’s Dresses Exhibition at Kensington Palace; the Tate Gallery and European museums, through documentaries on Hitler, Stalin, the Queen Mother and Princess Anne, to commercials for shampoo and feminine hygiene ‘with wings’!

She is the regular voice for AVAD Aviation, was one of only two women who dubbed all the 2 voices for Jeremy Isaacs’ epic series ‘Cold War’ and narrated the documentary ‘Fermat’s Last Theorem’ which won several awards including a BAFTA.

In theatre, she has appeared frequently at the Royal National Theatre and in the West End. She has played roles such as Cordelia in ‘King Lear’, Lady Anne in ‘Richard III’, Maggie in ‘The Man Who Came to Dinner’, Natasha in ‘Three Sisters’, Elvira in ‘Blithe Spirit’, Titania in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Helena in ‘Déjà Vu’, Stephanie in ‘Duet For One’ and Mrs. Milcote in ‘The Coram Boy’.

On TV, amongst others, she played Catherine in ‘Ambassador’, Zoe in ‘May to December’, Becky Sharp in ’Vanity Fair’, Nina in ‘Grushko’, Siobhan in ’What If It’s Raining?’ and Rita in ‘Jericho’.

She has played and read almost everything from Shakespeare, Chekhov, Elisabeth Gaskell and Noel Coward to Punch Magazine, Jean Paul Sartre, John Osborne, Dorothy Parker and Alan Bennett. She has even impersonated John Wayne.

Characters from check-out girls to ancient drunken dowagers, from Hooray Henrys to Irish Nuns. No accent a problem, as long as she’s heard it.
