A Spanish national, Carlos Riera has been resident in the UK since 1968. Over the past thirty four years he has pursued a full time career in journalism, radio and television broadcasting, translation and voice-over work. He was the London bureau chief for RNE - Spanish National Radio - from 1983-1992.
Carlos was born in Asturias, Northern Spain. He was educated in Oviedo, the University of Madrid, and the Spanish National Cinema School.
As a professional actor in Spain he appeared in several national and international feature films. He also worked extensively in theatre, television and lip-synch dubbing. He narrated many documentary, promotional and corporate programmes and commercials prior to being invited to the UK by BBCTV to present and play the leading role in the educational Spanish Language series Vamos A Ver.
He has been a frequent guest contributor, commenting on Spanish issues on British radio and television programmes. These included BBCTV News, Channel 4 News, ITN, Sky News and BBC Radio 4 Today Show.
Carlos has also occasionally translated and narrated various television programmes, most notably ITV’s Diana – The Making of a Princess.
