Marieke Van Hooff

Flemish/Dutch. Actress, young, clear, flexible.

Marieke was born in Belgium of Dutch parents, and speaks half a dozen languages. She came to the UK to train as an actor.

Marieke voices mainly in Flemish, Dutch and English. She is experienced in cartoons, audiobooks, documentaries, commercials, websites, off screen presentation and ADR, and loves voice work almost as much as she loves acting.

She is currently recording the part of Caramel, one of the 5 leads in Poppixies, a cartoon series consisting of 52 episodes, for Nickleodeon TV. Clients include Heineken, Thomas Cook, Windows Messenger, Ford and KETNET (the Flemish equivalent of CBBC).

Her double identity (Rose as an actor, Marieke as a voice artist) might be confusing to some, but it has made it possible for her to work in theatre for companies like Illyria, Eastern Angles and Stand and Stare, to name but a few.

As well as acting, Marieke is a writer, with 3 published children’s books to date in Belgium and the Netherlands, and a fourth one on the way.

Marieke speaks RP with the slightest hint of an accent, and she can deliver both very young voices and richer documentary type voices. Her articulation is clear, she works quickly, and her enjoyment of voice work always comes across.
